Arbois Savagnin Sous Voile

Savagnin grown on marly soils and aged under a veil of yeast in 228-liter barrels for three years. A "vin de voile" style: citrusy, intensely fresh, and rich in texture, with aromas of walnut, hazelnut, almond, green apple, and spices (including cumin); powerful and long-lasting on the palate.

Located in Montigny-lès-Arsures in the Jura region, Domaine Fumey Chatelain produces vibrant wines from top-quality grapes, cultivated with respect for nature and the environment. In the mid-1980s, Raphaël and Adeline began our journey in the Jura, starting with just 56 acres of vines and initially producing and selling grapes. Things were going well until the spring of 1991, when a devastating frost destroyed 95% of the Jura vineyards. With so few grapes left on our vines, they decided to vinify wine themselves and produce their first vintage.

Their first wines were crafted using whatever facilities we could find, borrowing unused cellars and barrels from other winemakers in Raphaël’s family, but their estate gradually expanded until 1999, when they acquired a dilapidated farmhouse in Montigny-lès-Arsures.

Today, the estate spans 17 hectares of vines. The plots are spread across some twenty different lieux-dits (named vineyard sites) in the communes of Arbois and Montigny-lès-Arsures, and the couple's son Marin, joined the project in 2020.

Born of passion, their wines reflect the energy that drives them.
