Priorat 'Les Manyes'

Terroir al Límit began as a project between German-born Dominik Huber and legendary South African winemaker Eben Sadie in the Catalan region of Priorat. Together, believing the region could produce wines of complexity on a level with France's Burgundy, the two began producing wine in 2004. Though Eben eventually handed the reigns fully to Dominik in order to focus on his South African wines, the two certainly made a mark on the world of Spanish wines, and Dominik has continued to do so, crafting wines that are honest and somewhat nostalgic in spirit, utilizing biodynamic as well as manual farming techniques—in this case human hands and a horse drawn plow—and showcasing what Priorat is truly capable of.

'Les Manyes' is Terroir al Límit's almost mythical-level "Grand Cru" for Priorat. It is produced from Grenache (here a specific clone called Garnatcha Peluda, or "Hairy Granche") harvested from a monastic vineyard in the village of Scala Dei. The clone grows grape berries that are slightly less sugary than other Grenaches, which translates into a bright and exceptionally elegant wine. The wine is whole-cluster fermented and aged for 8 months in cement tank. 

A crown jewel for Terroir al Límit's range of wines, it oozes a complex web of smoke and stone, fragrant black cherry and savory mountain herbs. 

Only 3,500 bottles produced.
