Valtellina Superiore Grumello 'Rocca de Piro'
Tucked away, far up a valley whose mouth opens to the northern end of Lake Como, you’ll find the terraced vineyards of Ar.Pe.Pe.. At the helm of this storied alpine estate is the fifth generation of the Pelizzatti Perego family, and they are established Ar.Pe.Pe. as the widely recognized king of Valltellina Superiore.
This is alpine Nebbiolo (here called Chiavennasca) at its finest.
The 'Rocco de Piro' comes from 50 to 100 year old vines in the Grumello subzone of the appellation. Fermentation lasted 110 days, and the wine was aged for 18 months in 50 hectoliter untoasted casks, before resting for a further two years in bottle prior to release.
Full of brightness and energy, expect cherry cola, blueberries, licorice, mountain flowers, and a slight peppery edge, with fine tannins and a silky texture.
Only 2,600 bottles produced.

We generally make deliveries in the Midland/Odessa area Monday through Friday (unless closed for special occasion).
We do our best to have all orders placed BEFORE NOON on delivery days delivered SAME DAY. All orders placed after noon will be delivered the following delivery day.
